Community Integration Supports

Cobbossee Integration Services (CIS), also located in downtown Gardiner, Maine provides opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities to become fully integrated and engaged within their communities. CIS, through the Person Centered Planning (PCP) process, assists individuals to set and work towards their personal goals.

Participants receive individualized supports to identify community participation goals, develop action plans, and make daily choices about the activities and interests they will pursue. The people who receive support through CIS take part in a wide variety of volunteerism and recreational activities throughout the Kennebec Valley Area. some examples of activities may include learning about self advocacy, use of public transportation, therapy services, developing relationships, adult daily living skills, establishing club memberships, adult education classes, volunteering, and attending current events.

While most people participate in the community integration program on a daily basis, others may attend only 2, 3, or 4 days each week, depending on personal and family needs.

Individualized transportation assistance is also an option for families that require it.
