Direct Support Professional Certification
Uplift offers the Direct Support Professional (DSP) curriculum developed by the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Behavioral and Developmental Services, and the Behavioral Health Sciences Institute. Once all modules are completed the student receives certification that is recognized State wide. For Uplift employees, these modules are offered free of charge. Uplift offers the trainings to the general public for a minimal per module fee.
The modules needed to complete the certification include:
- Module 1- Overview of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities
- Module 2- Human Rights
- Module 3- Confidentiality
- Module 4- Guardianship
- Module 5- Choices and Responsibility
- Module 6- Social Role and Community Inclusion
- Module 7- Planning with People
- Module 8- Documentation
- Module 9- Communication
- Module 10- Human Behavior
- Module 11- Human Sexuality
- Module 12-Teaching People
- Module 13- Health / Module 14- Safety
CRMA
Uplift offers the 24 or 40 hour CRMA course to all employees free of charge, including the clinical required portion of the course. This provides the standardized training for the State of Maine certified residential care facilities (Levels III & IV). Upon completion of this course and the supervised medication administration clinical, the participant will be able to provide error-free medication administration in the residential setting.
CPR/First Aide
Uplift offers the American Heart Association HeartSaver CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), AED (automated external defibrillator) and FA (First Aid) certificates. This training is free for all employees. By successfully completing the course work and testing involved in these comprehensive courses students will receive a two year certification for:
- HeartSaver (adult CPR)
- AED
- First Aid
7 to 8 -hour course offered approximately twice per month
Cost: $40-$50 for non employees
HeartSaver books can be purchased from your instructor for an extra $12.
